South Florida Chlorine Tips

Add Chlorine After Sunset

Miami's intense UV radiation destroys unstabilized chlorine within hours. Always add liquid chlorine or cal-hypo shock after 6 PM to maximize effectiveness overnight.

Test After Every Rain

Heavy summer rains dilute chlorine levels rapidly. After any significant rainfall, test your free chlorine within 24 hours and rebalance before the next swim.

Watch Your CYA Level

Year-round trichlor use in Miami's climate can push CYA above 80 ppm, causing 'chlorine lock.' If CYA exceeds 80 ppm, switch to cal-hypo or liquid chlorine for shock treatments.
